100 ft. PARK is pleased to present the exhibition Addicted to Hong Kong from 7 to 20 May 2013, showing an installation work by Him Lo. Communities have become unsightly and tasteless due to the recent town development and renewal of old districts. The newly built luxury residential is out of place with the neighbourhood, and the countryside of Hong Kong is in the risk of being turned to land for residential areas. Discontent with the current development of the city, Him Lo longs to destroy the monstrous high-rise buildings with his own hands and give people back a piece of wonderland. Through this installation work, Him Lo releases his pique and rethinks the meaning of destruction and construction and who is responsible to define the both.
On the opening night, Him Lo will use water gun to shoot at the miniature city made by paper tissues. The melted tissues will pile up and form mountains and fields. Audience is invited to participate in the creation of this work of art with the artist and to give vent to their anger.
Born in Hong Kong, Him Lo graduated from Middlesex University, UK, in VCD, illustration with first class honors. He also obtained a BA in fine art in RMIT University, Australia. Apart from his works of painting, Lo has also actively involved in performance art.
