About Exhibition

100 ft. PARK is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Tang Kwok-hin titled ‘Child’ in March in which he staged his childhood memory of school days. Comprising mirror plagues, a lecture podium and sound recording of the conversation between the artist and a little girl, this compound installation attempts to address the role of school in the society. Tension is built up out of the authoritative confrontation between the imaginary speaker and the listener. The on-stage/off-stage relation alludes to the ways the authority exercises its power and enforces the law to suppress and control the mind and behavior of its people. The symbolism of the objects and the setting reveals the artist’s unsettling feeling and anxiety towards the present and the future.
